5 Kislev: Write get well cards for children at a local hospital

Today's #kislevisforkindness challenge is to reach out to someone who is sick to offer words of encouragement, strength, and comfort. Everyone feels better when they know someone is thinking of them.

Here are a few ideas to get started:

  • Check out Cards for Hospitalized Kids for tips to get started and where to send cards

  • Connect with a local hospital to see what letter writing opportunities they have

  • Contact a local Bikur Cholim organization to see what they need

Make sure to tag #kislevisforkindness on Facebook so we can share your good deeds with the world!

3 Kislev: Donate Clothes to a Cause that Supports Veterans

Our #kislevisforkindness Sunday challenges will be a bit more labor intensive, but you can spread out the work through the whole week.

In honor of Veterans Day, roll up your sleeves and clean out those closets. There are several organizations that pick up donated clothes to benefit veterans. Here are a couple:

  1. Military Order of the Purple Heart

  2. ClothingDonations.org

Make sure to take a picture of the bags you will be donating and post online using #kislevisforkindness!

2 Kislev: Be Present when Talking to Others

2 Kislev: Be Present when Talking to Others

Today's #kislevisforkindness is to focus on being more present when talking to others. Here are some tips to get started:

  1. Remove distractions - this may be easier for those who are Shabbat observant, but we can all benefit from some time away from the screen. So, put the screen away and spend some focused time with your friends and family and truly give them your full attention.

  2. Ask Questions - Ask questions and show your interest in the conversation.

  3. Listen - Listen thoughtfully to each response to let your loved one know you are interested in what they have to say.

Make sure to post online using #kislevisforkindness when you are done!

1 Kislev: Show Support to someone who experienced a loss

This campaign was built from the sadness that is coming out of so many recent tragedies. Our goal is to add more light and kindness into the world.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Show support to someone who experienced a recent loss. It will brighten their day.

SUGGESTED WAYS TO COMPLETE:

  1. Call, text, email etc someone you know who experienced a loss. Let them know that you are thinking of them and care. These simple words can go a long way.

  2. Do a kind deed today in someone’s memory- give charity, make a blessing, learn something new, commit to #kislevisforkindness 😉- and share with the family what you did to honor their loved ones. It can be a source of comfort.
